Calling on the expertise of a wide range of specialists, harbour construction includes the production of a site plan, wave models, environmental impact assessment, geological research, earthquake studies, structural design of quays and breakwaters and inspection and supervision during construction.

Planning

Projects in this field include an EIA and the preliminary design of the proposed harbor structures for Alcoa’s Fjardaál aluminum smelter in East Iceland. Mannvit has also worked for Associated Icelandic Ports on an extension of an industrial quay at Grundartangi, West Iceland, able to serve "New Panamax" size ships with 13 m draft. Other example of projects for Associated Icelandic Ports is the renovation of the old fishing port in the Old Harbor in Reykjavík. In recent years Mannvit has been involved in harbor projects in Norway.
