Sultartangi Transmission Line 3, 420 kV

Mannvit supervised the construction of a 420 kV HV transmission line named Sultartangalína 3 for Landsnet. Sultartangalina is a 130 km long overhead transmission line from south to west Iceland. Construction of the 420 kV transmission lines began in 2004. The project included track construction, earthwork and installation of foundations, tower erection and stringing of conductors.

The purpose of the HV transmission line was to increase the capacity to the nearest substation at west due to increased demand related to the enlargement of Century Aluminum‘s plant and further build-up of power intensive industry at Grundartangi industrial park.
