Nye Bø Primary School in Norway
Mannvit was responsible for the pre-design and preparation of tender documents for the Nye Bø primary school in the municipality of Hå kommune in southern Norway. Hå kommune is 40 km south of Stavanger on the west coast of Norway. A new 8,000 m² school is being constructed and is expected to open its doors in 2016. The school building intended for 550 students as well as 20 students with special needs. The school is intended for students in 1-7 grades. There is a great ambition for the project both within the municipality and the design is clear evidence of that.
Mannvit was contracted after a competence evaluation and price offer. Mannvit was responsible for the predesign of all the disciplines of engineering design, including the structural design, HVAC, electrical systems, acoustics, fire alarm systems and utilities. Mannvit’s tasks included the issue of universal tender documents for the work of contractors on the school and the issue of tender documents for earthworks and the parking lot. The project is being carried out in collaboration with the architects Ola Roald AS Arkitektur for Hå kommune.

Inhabitants“It is quite a common practice in construction products in Norway to tender for predesigns separately. Predesigns can then end up in the preparation of universal tender documents and the contractor hires designers to handle the detail design. In Iceland we are more used to all the design phases being handled by a single firm. Mannvit, however adapts to these circumstances as it does to others.“
