Corbetti Geothermal Power
The Mannvit - Verkís consortium is the Owner's engineer for the Corbetti project. In 2014 Corbetti Geothermal plc (Corbetti) hired the two companies to provide consulting for the first geothermal project in Ethiopia. The consulting work provided, includes preparation of tender documents for the EPC contract, concept design, tender documents, tender administration, drilling consulting,consulting on water supply systems, access roads and well-pad preparation for drilling activities as well as consulting on grid connection of the first two phases, including PPA contracting with the Ethiopian transmission grid company EEP.
Project background
In December 2017 Corbetti Geothermal plc, the Government of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia (GoE) and Ethiopian Electric Power (EEP) signed an implementation agreement and a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for Corbetti. The project plan is to deliver up to 520MW of baseload renewable power to Ethiopia’s national grid. The project has received strong support from Power Africa, UK government. The Geothermal Risk Mitigation Facility (GRMF) has also funded initial drilling for the project.
