
Contract for Bus Rapid Transit in Reykjavik
On October 27, 2020, an agreement was signed on project management and consulting for the new Borgarlina bus rapid transit (BRT) system in the Greater Reykjavik area, Iceland. The consulting team consists of the companies Mannvit, COWI from Denmark and Arup from England. The consulting team has extensive experience in the preparation, organization and implementation of similar projects outside of Iceland in Denmark, Norway and England.
The team was one of four teams that submitted bids for the project that Borgarlinan's project office advertised in the spring. Three teams qualified in the pre-selection process and took part in an extensive bidding process that took place this summer. The result was the team of Mannvit, Cowi and Arup received the highest rating for implementation and their bid was the most economically favourable.
The consulting is focused on project management and expertise in key areas in the development of the Borgarlina, BRT system. The role of the consulting team includes the following elements:
- Project management
- Project control, including cost control, progress control and planning
- Quality management, risk assessment, change management and procurement
- Design process management
- Preparation and follow-up of communication and consultation plans
- Support services
- Management during construction period
- Testing and commissioning assistance
The team of Mannvit, Cowi and Arup is thus intended to provide leadership and support in the key areas of the project, from the preparation of the pre-design to its delivery after construction.
