Industrial Noise
In recent years, there have been great industrial and manufacturing developments in Iceland and abroad. The machinery used in these developments, including power plants, smelters and refineries, can be extremely noisy. Should noise reduction measures be lacking, this noise could not only have very detrimental effects on employee health, but its propagation can be the cause of great annoyance in neighboring areas.
In order to prevent excessive industrial noise from becoming a problem, the first step is reducing indoor noise as much as possible. Sound absorption must be applied in machine and work rooms and these areas must be sound insulated from break rooms and other rooms of personal or other non-machine work.
In addition to sound insulation, machinery, ducts, pipes and other conduits must be mounted in a way that minimizes vibration propagation. Secondly, it is crucial that the sound insulating properties of exterior walls are high-quality, including all vents and openings. In some cases it is necessary to mount sound-reducing screens or enclosures around noisy equipment.
Mannvit engineering has experts specializing in acoustics and noise control engineering. At Mannvit, there is extensive experience conducting noise assessments and acoustical design. In addition to this experience, Mannvit’s facilities for measuring and simulating acoustics, indoors as well as outdoors, are state-of-the-art.
