Houses of Worship

Houses of worship are an important and integral part of each community where some of life’s most important moments take place. Houses of worship are the venue for baptisms, weddings and funerals in addition to a number of important events. Apart from this, houses of worship often host a variety of non-religious functions, such as concerts. The design of the building must account for this wide variety of needs.

For most of these activities, the role of the building includes good acoustics. Whether the intention is to take in a religious message, enjoy music or simply have a relaxing moment away from the toils of the day, good acoustics are essential. Good acoustics should ensure clear communication while allowing for inspiring musical performances without external disturbances. For this to be achieved, the acoustical design, including sound insulation and sound systems, must be designed and carried out with skill and expertise.

Mannvit has experts specializing in acoustics and the solution of acoustical problems. At Mannvit, there is extensive experience in acoustical design and the design of sound systems-including over 30 houses of worship in Iceland. In addition to this experience, our facilities for measuring and simulating acoustics are state-of-the-art, a combination that enables Mannvit to engineer effective solutions for a wide variety of applications.
