Mannvit participates in the build-up of a zero-emissions datacenter in Iceland

Verne Global's data center at an 18-hectare campus in Reykjanesbaer, Iceland, opened today in a ceremony attended by Oddný G. Hardardottir, Minister of industry and Árni Sigfússon Mayor of Reykjanesbaer. IT hosting and managed services provider Datapipe is the first customer of Verne Global’s data center in Iceland. Mannvit is involved in the build-up of this new zero-emissions data center in Iceland, 100% powered by renewable energy from hydroelectric and geothermal energy.
Verne Global hired Mannvit for the engineering- and architectural design of the project and preparations for the installation of modular data center units supplied by UK based Colt. Mannvit’s subcontractor was Tark architects. Mannvit’s tasks included the MV power supply, backup power systems, auxiliary systems, modification of building “KEF201”, grounding network and electrodes, lightning protection system, fire safety design, HVAC and various building systems.
