Geothermal District Heating Projects Advance in Hungary
The first phase of a geothermal district heating development project of up to 40 MWth began today with drilling of the first well in the town of Miskolc in eastern Hungary. Miskolc is one of the three largest cities in the country with approximately 200,000 inhabitants. The well depth is planned to be 2.3 km. All geophysical and geological research, well design and drilling supervision will be carried out by Mannvit.
Work on the district heating project continues in the town Szentlörinc, with a planned reinjection well to be drilled at the end of May. The first well in this town was successfully drilled last fall. The reinjection well is planned to be approximately 1.8 km deep and all geophysical and geological research, well design and drilling supervision will be carried out by Mannvit. Commissioning of the district heating system is planned for late fall, 2010. Mannvit is responsible for all design, bid preparation, tender evaluation, site supervision and commissioning (EPCM contract)for this part of the development project.
