Mannvit involved in AMT and MT measurements in Greece
Mannvit is currently working on geothermal mapping on the Greek islands Milos and Kimolos, along with their sub-contractors, KMS Technologies. Mapping takes place using AMT and MT impedance measurements. Measurements are part of research project in the region. MT stands for magnetotellurics and AMT for audio-magnetotellurics. AMT is used to investigate the resistance of the earth down to a depth of approximately 500m and MT down to a depth of several kilometers. A total of 57 points will be measured on Milos and 20 on Kimolos.
Originally MT measurements were mainly used in academic research, but the in 1980s MT was used successfully for mapping geothermal activity underground and became the standard research method for geothermal mapping.
The project includes specialists from five different countries: Iceland, Germany, India, China, and Greece.
